About

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here.

Thank you for your curiosity about my work. I am in a wonderfully uncomfortable place in my life. This past spring (2021), I decided to leave teaching philosophy to pursue two of my passions, writing and workplace conflict resolution management. I see my life’s work of teaching philosophy reflected in my writing and approach to mediation.

So, here’s a bit more about me:

Writer: Writing is something I never thought was in the cards for me because I’m dyslexic. And yet, here I am, 8 books later. The universe is a crazy place because I absolutely love writing. My first non-fiction book is coming out in September 2021, The Food Addict: Recovering from Binge Eating Disorder & Making Peace with Food. This book addresses Binge Eating Disorder, the obesity epidemic, and is part memoir and part social commentary.

The bulk of my writing has been in young adult fiction. I have two fun young adult series. The first is The Exiled Trilogy: The Knowers, The Second Fall, The United. The other series is The Four Families: Gold Manor Ghost House, Crimson Hall Ghost House, Silver Tree Ghost House, and Serpent Star Ghost House (forthcoming spring 2022).

Mediator: I am a Tennessee Rule 31 Civil Supreme Court mediator and International Ombudsman Association member. If you are having difficulties at your place of employment, give me a call.

Philosopher: I’ve been a philosopher since birth, and a professional philosopher for 23 years. I absolutely adore teaching philosophy, my students, discussing ideas about the nature of the universe, human nature, ethics, technology, and what constitutes the happy human life. My favorite document is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. My love of philosophy and people run through my writing and work as a mediator.

Family person: My happy place is being with my family. They are my greatest joy.
